The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre received students of the Department of Political Science and International Relations from the Istanbul Bahçeşehir University.

Speaking during the visit, Töre said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is a Turkish homeland.

Pointing to the importance of seeing and experiencing the Cyprus cause first hand, Töre informed the students regarding the history of the island and the struggle waged by the Turkish Cypriots on the island.

He noted that the national cause can be defended with a firm stance and emphasized that both in Türkiye and in the TRNC, there may be ‘internal and external enemies’ as stated in Atatürk’s address to the youth and emphasized that one should always be vigilant against these circles.

He reiterated that the Republic is the symbol of the national struggle.                                                                                  …

Also noting that there are some circles that want the federation talks to continue and the guarantor system to be abolished, he reminded that there are those who claimed that the Turkish Cypriots shot themselves in the foot by establishing the TRNC.
